DAY 3 DAY 3 BELGRADE – TIMISOARA – BRASOV (THE COUNTRY OF DRACULA)
After breakfast, we will depart for a half day tour to the Romanian city Timisoara (163 kil), the capital city of Timiș County, and the main social, economic and cultural centre in western Romania. One of the largest Romanian cities (the third most populous city in the country) with a population of 319,279 inhabitants. Timisoara is considered the informal capital city of the historical region of Banat. In September 2016, Timisoara was selected as the European Capital of Culture for 2021. Upon our arrival we will have a short stop for coffee or refreshment in one of the welcoming terraces in the city center. We continue with a relaxed walking tour in the city center. History, beautiful buildings, the stories of the city and their people. The tour takes place inside of the old city walls of the Vauban type fortress, built in the 18th century by the Austro-Hungarians. The starting point is the oldest building in the city – the castle built by the Hungarian king Carol Robert of Anjou, at the begging of the 14th century. Our tour follows an 800 years history on a track of about 2,5 km. Afterwards we continue to Poiana Brasov (435 kil) where we will spend the night near Bran. Check in and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 4 CASTLE DRACULA
After breakfast, we will depart for a half day tour to Castle Dracula. Bran Castle situated near Bran and in the immediate vicinity of Braşov, is a national monument and landmark in Romania. The fortress is situated on the border between Transylvania and Wallachia. Commonly known as “Dracula’s Castle, it is the home of the title character in Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The castle is now a museum open to tourists, displaying art and furniture collected by Queen Marie. At the bottom of the hill is a small open-air museum park exhibiting traditional Romanian peasant structures from across the country. Nature has been generous with this area because it is surrounded by the impressive silhouettes of the massifs Bucegi and Piatra Craiului, two of the most important elements in the Romanian mountainous touristic scenery. The landscape from this area is a harmonious mixture of different landforms (high mountains, plateaus, the curvy shapes carved by the rivers along their banks and the valleys that cross the land, shaped by the rich hydrographic network). Afterwards we depart for Bucharest (173 Kil). Arrival, check in and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 5 BUCHAREST
After breakfast we are heading for a city tour of Bucharest. Bucharest is the capital and largest city of Romania, as well as its cultural, industrial, and financial centre. It is located in the southeast of the country, on the banks of the Dâmbovița River, less than 60 km (37.3 mi) north of the Danube River and the Bulgarian border. Bucharest was first mentioned in documents in 1459. It became the capital of Romania in 1862 and is the centre of Romanian media, culture, and art. Its architecture is a mix of historical (neo-classical),interbellum (Bauhaus and art deco), communist-era and modern. In the period between the two World Wars, the city’s elegant architecture and the sophistication of its elite earned Bucharest the nickname of “Little Paris” (Micul Paris). Although buildings and districts in the historic city centre were heavily damaged or destroyed by war, earthquakes, and above all Nicolae Ceaușescu’s program of systematization, many survived. In recent years, the city has been experiencing an economic and cultural boom.In 2016, the historical city centre was listed as “endangered” by the World Monuments Watch. Rest of day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 6 BUCHAREST – SOFIA (360 Km)
After our breakfast, we will depart to Sofia, the capital and largest city of Bulgaria. Sofia is one of the oldest cities on the Balkans found by the Thracian tribe Serdi. In 29 A.D. Sofia became the capital of the Roman province of Inner Dacia. Through the ages, the city played role as an important trading center in the Byzantine and Bulgarian Empires. Under Ottoman rule, Sofia was the center of Rumelia province. Sofia became the capital of restored Bulgaria in 1879, with a population of only about 12,000. Today many streets, buildings, parks, and even whole neighborhoods preserve the architectural style from the turn of the century. The city has a population of 1.26 million, while over 1.5 million people live in its functional urban area. It is the largest South Slavic city in the world, being slightly more populous than Belgrade. The city is located at the foot of Vitosha Mountain in the western part of the country, within less than 50 kilometres (31 mi) drive from the Serbian border. Its location in the centre of the Balkan peninsula means that it is the midway between the Black Sea and theAdriatic Sea, whereas the Aegean Sea is the closest to it. Sofia has been an area of human habitation since at least 7000 BC. Being Bulgaria’s primate city, it is a hometown of many of the major local universities, cultural institutions and commercial companies. Arrival, check in and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 7 SOFIA CITY TOUR
After our breakfast, we proceed to the Sofia city tour. The day starts with a short transfer to the National History Museum, occupying the residency of the former communist ruler Todor Zhivkov, located at the outskirts of Sofia. We will have a guided tour of the rich museum collection, with special attention drawn to the key dates, facts and exhibits. Close by is the Boyana Church, which we will visit to unravel the global importance of its proto-Renaissance frescoes. The afternoon will be for gentle walking tour of the center, where you will learn about the National Library, Sofia University, The Parliament, The St. Alexander Nevsky Patriarchal Cathedral, the National Theatre, St. Sofia Church, Sofia’s oldest building – St George Rotunda, The houses of the Council of Ministers, presidency and the former communist party headquarters, the ruins of the ancient city of Serdika (dating from the 5th-6th C), the National Palace of Culture, the main shopping streets of Sofia etc. Rest of say at leisure. Hello Mary,
First of all. id like to thank you(primarily), Elena, Dimitris & Illyas for making our tour enjoyable. We really had a good time and would communicate the same to many people. You can identify us from the photographs above I am a regular reviewer on trip advisor and you wanted the references which I have pasted below. You need to press CRTL+click Im very sure many well to do Indians would like to visit Greece but tour operators avoid(preferring UK/Italy/Germany/France(very good embassy procedure) due to the slow procedure.I know you said that they cannot hire additional staff for 2 ½ months but they know the period April-June, which is regular .Others hire temporary staff to cope. This is like your July-August holidays in Greece
My son saw that you have got an award from the Kashmir Govt and China also. Many congratulations!
Hope to be back sometime to see Crete & Delhi
Dear Mary/Ilias,

Client is really very happy with the deliverables.
Looking forward to work with you in upcoming projects.
A big Thank you once again !!

Your day sounds almost exactly like the tour that Randy and I did of the Peloponnese, right down to lunch. I actually thought the lunch was really good the wine was great (first time I had ever had sweet, chilled red wine), and our dessert was the best oranges I’d ever had.
We actually stole the leftover oranges to eat on the plane on the way home. I loved basically everything we did in Greece and Turkey, but my favorite day by far was the day we spent on the island of Rhodes. Our (many) photos from our trip are here: if you want to look. I’m glad you had such a fantastic trip!
